ASEE Engineering Deans Gender Equity (EDGE) Initiative
The issue of diversity is critical for ASEE and our members, and reflects ASEE’s core values. ASEE recognizes that to optimize innovation and global competitiveness, the engineering community must actively encourage, support, engage, and advance a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community. Currently barriers exist to full engagement in engineering by underrepresented groups such as women, especially women of color. The Engineering Deans Gender Equity (EDGE) Initiative a 3-year program, funded through a 2018 National Science Foundation ADVANCE Adaptation award, seeks to reduce barriers impeding the participation of diverse women in engineering higher education.
